Being in Japan for the first time
Riemer visited the famous
NIHOMBASHI-bridge.
The center of the bridge
happens to be Japan's
GEODETICAL POINT ZERO.
"A good place to start my
artistic conquest of Japan"
she said. And it really was!
In 2009
Angelik proudly presented
my photo book
ANGELIK RIEMER AND JAPAN
to the bridge.
This book kept records of the
MANY ACTIVITIES
Angelik developed during
17 years since 1992.

In 1995, Angelik Riemer and Yoko Tawada
put up a dialogue project
in the half wrecked
AKADEMIE DER KÜNSTE
under the curation of Christian Schneegass
where Riemer interchanged
one part of the tetraptychon NIGHT IMAGE
with one part of THE triptychon DAY IMAGE
during three days
whilst one the first day
Tawada read
sitting in the glass roof above
from the 1994 book
SPIEGELBILD
about a man who wanted to drink the moon
(words by Tawada, illustration by Riemer).
